Club President Rebecca Juarez opened the meeting by asking Brad Board to lead his fellow Lions in a patriotic song – God Bless America. Lion Chris Baldwin led the Pledge of Allegiance and Lion Pete Sherwood performed the invocation.

Lion John Parker won the no fine badge.


President Rebecca reported that the Breakfast Lions St. Patrick’s day parade would be held on March 11th. The second Lions Bowling Tournament will be held in Hanford on March 18th. The regional student speaker contest will be March 25th.

Lion Pete Sherwood shared that Visalia Emergency Aid will be having their 85th anniversary party on March 23rd.

Golf committee co-chair Walt Juarez passed around a flyer for the Charity Golf Tournament. Sponsors and teams are needed.

Happy Bucks

Lion Eric Frost joked that he was happy that Lions were staying up with technology after seeing Lion Roy Dressel’s turn-of-the-century era Blackberry device. Lion Roy was happy to be on his way to Death Valley.

Lion Pete Sherwood donated two happy bucks – one for a Sibling’s get-together planned for Father’s day this year, and one for a visit from his grandsons this weekend.

As usual, Lion Ruth McKee was happy that it was Friday.

Lion Kent Woolley was happy that Lion Dee Baughman was in Texas, and that his tomato and onion garden was doing well.


Lion Roy Dressel fined short-timer Deputy City Manager Eric Frost because his parking lot was torn up. Lion Brad Board also fined Lion Eric.

President Rebecca fined herself after a mix-up on this month’s Board meeting date.

Lion Eric Frost jokingly fined Lion Pete Sherwood for his reportedly “uncertified” legal help.

Secret greeter Rebecca fined Lions Rick McVaigh, Karen McVaigh, Melinda Blankenship, and Brad Board for not shaking her hand prior to the meeting as required.


Lion Roy Dressel won the five-dollar raffle and donated the proceeds to the La Sierra Leo Club. Lion Karen McVaigh won the free ad. Lion Walt Juarez won the scratcher lottery tickets. Lion Rick McVaigh won a shot at the marble drawing and drew the coveted $200 white marble.


Lion Vinnie Longo, who is also he Director of Broadcast Operations for Visalia’s Class A Baseball team, provided an excellent presentation on the Visalia Rawhide, and Visalia’s upcoming California League All-Star game. In addition to providing Class A sports entertainment, the Rawhide also support the community through charity events and volunteerism.
