Club President Roy Dressel opened the meeting by asking Dee Baughman to lead his fellow Lions in a patriotic song – God Bless America. Lion Leigh Mosconi led the Pledge of Allegiance, and Lion Bob Line led his fellow Lions in prayer.
Greeter Melinda Blankenship introduced our guests– Jeff McCumber, Mike Durham, and Katie Cichy of the Visalia Fire Department; and David Prewitt, a Guest of Lion Bob Line.
Lion Tony Loliva won the “No-Fine Badge”.
Lion Janet McClintock reported there will be Club visitations to the Three Rivers Lions at the Arena in Three Rivers on September 7th at 6PM, and to the Charter Oak Lions, which meets at the Lamplighter Inn on September 20th at 6PM.
Lion Melinda Blankenship passed out flyers for Club Fundraiser at Five Guys Restaurant on Sunday, September 17th. The Club will receive 20% of all proceeds from sales accompanied with the fundraiser flyer.
Lion Tom Gaebe reminded Lions that the Annual Band Review and Field Show will be at Mineral King Bowl on October 14th.
There will be a Vision Screening Event on September 10th from 10AM TO 2PM at the Family Services Offices in Tulare. Volunteers are still needed.
Lion Dee Baughman was happy the Los Angeles Dodgers had lost five games in a row. President Roy reminded Lions that the Dodgers are still in first place atop the MLB National League Western Division. President Roy also won a Toastmasters speech contest with a humorous speech about his recent heart troubles.

San Francisco Giants fan Leigh Mosconi was happy that football season has started.
Lion Vicki Whitehouse was happy the golf tournament was over, and thanked all volunteers and especially Lions Tony Loliva, Karen McVaigh, Aaron Odell, and Melinda Blankenship for their hard work. Lion Vicki also shared that a former student who is now an area manager for Black Bear Diner may be a sponsor for next year’s tournament.
Lion Dee Baughman fined Lions Vicki and Ruth for “low-riding” in a golf cart at the tournament. He also fined Lions Leigh and Allen for their slow play.
Lion Vicki fined Lion Bob Line for his joke.
Lion Tony Loliva won the five-dollar raffle and donated the proceeds to the La Sierra Leo Club. Rick McVaigh won the scratcher lottery tickets. Bob Line won the free ad and chose to root for his favorite team. Lion Vicki Whitehouse won the marble drawing.
Jeff McCumber, Mike Durahm, and Katie Cichy of the Visalia Fire Department described their lives as firefighters, and the broad range of services they provide. In addition to being fire fighters, all three are paramedics and perform public outreach and fire safety inspections.
