Todays Meeting
Our stand-in leader, Lion Dee, began the meeting by calling on Lion Bob Line to lead us in singing God Bless America, then Lion Pat to lead us in saluting the flag, and Lion Mark did the invocation today.
Lion Allen announced our guests today were our program, Donna Mekeel and Maile Melkonian from the Tulare County League of Women voters.
No fine badge went to Lion Tom Link. A bond measure was proposed to make up for the shortfall.
Announcements
Lion Dee announced that he was no longer selling Girls’ Scout cookies this year. Several groans were heard throughout the room.
Auction items
Lion Tom Link had some candy (no, not salt water taffy this time) purchased by Lion Pat, who donated them to Lion Karen.
Lion Irene had our guest, Donna Mekeel select a ticket.
Happy Bucks
Lion Pete was happy that his dad recently turned 93 and was still sharp as a tack. He was also happy that his grandson started Cal Ripken baseball and got a hit at his only at-bat, so he was batting 1000. His grandson also got to say hi to former major leaguer Ron Robinson and was excited because he had his baseball card.
Lion Tom Gaebe was happy that tax season was here.
Lion Aaron was happy that his wife, Lion Betty, was doing well.
Lion Karen was happy because she had heard from Lion Vickie. She is doing better and is looking forward to returning to our meetings.
Lion Roy was happy that Lion Tom Link had sent him a note about the League of Women Voters and that they could give their presentation on such short notice.
Speaking of Lion Tom Link, he was happy that he had been at the coast this past week. He went to Cal Poly and saw Amy Grant in concert.
Lion Allen was happy that he and his daughter had gotten wild hair last week to visit his son in LA, and together, they went to see his grandparent’s graves and went to Venice Beach to see other people of interest.
Lion Karen was $4, happy that for the next two weeks, She and Lion Rick would be in Arizona for spring training.
Lion Mark was happy that next week he will turn 63 and will be heading to the coast to celebrate.
Fines
Lions Tom and Irene were both fined for being late.
Lion Allen fined Lion Dee for getting him and Lion Aaron confused.
Lion Dee decided to ask us all who our district governor was and whyle both Lions Allen and Roy came up with Lyon Christy Kroell’s name, it was too late, and both had to pay a dollar, along with most everyone else at today’s meeting.
Secret greeter: Lion Roy was it today, and I was so unpopular that the club racked in some serious cash.
