President Ruth McKee opened the September 13th meeting with a patriotic song led by Lion Dee Baughman. Ed Jones performed the invocation and Carol Jones led the flag salute. 

David Hamilton of Visalia Sunset Lions and Kaden Ferretti, a Fresno Lion, were guests at the meeting.

Lion Tom Gaebe won the no-fine badge.

Announcements

Lion Tom Gaebe reminded Lions that the Annual Band Review and Field Show is coming up on October 12th.

Lion Allen Ventling shared that 93 kids were screened at the vision screening event at Valley Life Charter School.

Auction

Fresno Lion Kaden Ferretti auctioned off a Lion Scarf with proceeds going to Cases for Kids.

Happy Bucks

Lion Dee Baughman donated a happy buck in memory of his Sponsor, Lion Hal Guill, who passed away recently.  Lion Melinda shared that Hal was a great Lion and a champion for sight.

USC fan Tom Gaebe was happy his alma mater won.

Biker Roy Dressel was happy to have his motorcycle back on the road.

Lion Jeff Meader’s classic corvette is out of the shop.

Lion Ed Jones was happy his 50th High School reunion is coming soon.  He also thanked his wife Carol for her help with the event.

Lion Aaron Odell shared that he had seen some great tennis matches recently.

Vice-President Craig Wheaton was happy that President Ruth was back at the podium.

Lion Carol spent last week at Morro Bay.  Lion Tom Link will be going there Monday.

President Ruth was, once again, happy it was Friday.

Treasurer Karen McVaigh shared that the golf tournament, led by Melinda et al, raised almost $7,900.

Lion Vicki Whitehouse shared that her husband is doing well.  She was also happy to see Lion Kaden at the meeting and that Lion Tom Gaebe, once again, is coordinating our efforts for the Band Review and Field Show.

Fines

Lion Bob Line fined local celebrity Tom Link, who is being honored at a Visalia Emergency Aid Charity Event.

Lion Jeff Meader fined himself for having to leave early.

Dee Baughman fined Lions Tom Link and Brad Board for arriving after the opening bell.

Prizes

Melinda Blankenship won the five-dollar raffle and donated the proceeds to the Lions Eye Foundation. Bob Line won the free ad. Lion Ed Jones won the Lotto tickets. Lion Allen Ventling won a shot at the marble drawing but failed to find the white marble.

Kaden Ferretti provided tips for calling 911 when a crime is in progress or in the event of a life and death emergency.

  3. Allow the operator to guide you through the process.

Lester Moon of Hands in the Community was a guest at the meeting.

Club Members sang the Happy Birthday song in honor of those with September Birthdays.

Lion Tom Link auctioned off a bag of salt water taffy from Morro Bay. Lion Karen McVaigh bought the taffy for a donation of ten dollars.

Lion Dee Baughman reported that his nephew in North Carolina survived hurricane Dorian.

USC fan Tom Gaebe was happy his alma mater had beaten Fresno State.

Lion Melinda Blankenship had a great time with Lions Karen and Janet at the Three Rivers Lions Barbeque.  She also won the Three Rivers Club’s 50/50 raffle.

Lion Bob Line survived an all-night trip to USC for the Fresno State football game  

Mountaineer Pete Sherwood successfully scaled the tallest peak in the contiguous U.S.

Lion Tom Link is celebrating his 55th wedding anniversary.

Lion Allen Ventling thanked CPA Tom Gaebe for his help with his taxes.

Lion Vicki Whitehouses’s husband is doing well.  Her daughter is in Chicago at a gathering of Starbucks store managers.

Lion Vicki Whitehouse fined Lion Bob Line for a joke about her stature.

Lion Melinda Blankenship fined Lion Allen Ventling for failing to show up for the Three Rivers Barbeque.

Secret greeter Allen Ventling fined Lion Bob Line for failing to shake his hand prior to the meeting as required.

Announcements

Lion Janet McClintock reported that the annual Three Rivers visitation night is Thursday, September 5th.  Persons interested in carpooling may meet at the KFC at Mary’s Vinyard.

Back from her recent trip to the Emerald Isle, Lion Carol Jones auctioned off Guinness Chocolate and Shamrock Shortbread.  Lions Steve Gerrard and Melinda Blankenship donated 15 dollars apiece for the goodies.

Lion Melinda Blankenship thanked everyone again for their help with the Golf Tournament and donated 20 happy bucks.

Vice President Craig Wheaton was happy to see President Ruth at the meeting.  President Ruth was happy for a Friday off work.

Both Lions Ed Jones and Roy Dressel were happy the Dodgers are still in first place atop the National League’s Western Division.  Lion Ed also celebrated his 38h anniversary with Lion Carol. They may or may not be heading to Florida next, depending on the path of monster hurricane Dorian.

Lion George Fry predicted that year would be the year of the San Francisco Giants.

Lion Vicki Whitehouse was happy her husband is still doing well, and that the golf tournament was a success.

Lion Vicki Whitehouse attempted to fine Lion Craig Wheaton but was foiled by the no-fine badge.

Lion Dee Baughman complained that Lion Aaron Odell was holding up his genealogy research on the Odell family.

 Lion Craig Wheaton fined Ed and Carol Jones after tipping their Terra, a server, heavily on a wine trip.
