Lion Janet Receives Service Award

Club President Karen McVaigh opened the meeting by asking Lion Bob Line to lead his fellow Lions in song. Lion Pete Sherwood led the Pledge of Allegiance and Lion Dee Baughman performed the invocation.

Lion Dee Baughman won the “no-fine” badge for the meeting, effectively transferring the burden of heavy fines to his tablemates Bob Line and Tom Link.

Greeter Melinda Blankenship introduced Gil Jaramillo, Carlos Mendoza, and Alex Gutierrez of the Tulare Kings Hispanic Chamber of Commerce.

Awards were presented to Janet McClintock for 15 years of service, and to Pete Sherwood for 30 years of Service as Lions.


President Karen shared that the next meeting of the Club’s Executive Board will be on Wednesday December 12th at 5:30PM at Left of Center.

The Club Christmas Luncheon will be on Friday December 14th.  Members are asked to bring an unwrapped toy for a boy and a girl.  Representatives from Visalia Emergency Aid will be at the Luncheon to collect the toys and donations.

Lion Ruth McKee shared that our meeting for January 11th will be held at Visalia Emergency Aid.


Lion Tom Link auctioned off a box of Godiva Chocolates and a bottle of Pinot Noir from his recent trip to San Francisco. Lion Melinda Blankenship made a donation for the chocolates and Rick McVaigh took the wine.

Happy Bucks

Fresno Bulldog fan Bob Line was happy that his team won the Mountain West Conference.  Lion Pete Sherwood joked that it must have been “divine intervention” that turned Boise State’s blue smurf-turf to a snowy white, allowing Fresno State to finally win a game in Boise.

Once again, Lion Ruth McKee was happy it was Friday.

Lion Damon Yount thanked members for the $500 donation to the Redwood Springs Care Facility’s Christmas party, noting that each resident will receive a gift.

Lion Roy Dressel was happy for the much-needed rain.

Lion Dee Baughman shared that Lion Pete Sherwood has been doing a great job getting the word out about the student speaker contest.

Lion Tom Link had two great trips to San Francisco.

Lion Melinda is happy to be buying her house.  She also reminded Lions that is was Pearl Harbor Day.

President Karen attended her daughter’s wedding in Lake Tahoe and donated twenty happy bucks.

Lion Vicki Whitehouse is happy that her husband continues to do well, and that her son had a great trip to Peru.


Lion Dee Baughman fined Lion Allen Ventling for allegedly talking politics.  Lion Dee also fined Lion Brent Robinson who has not yet attended a Board meeting, and Lion Bob Line for allegedly supporting the Bulldog gang.

Lion Bob Line was fined for cutting ahead of Lion Ruth Mckee during the happy bucks segment of the meeting.

Secret greeter Vicki Whitehouse fined Lion Bob Line for not shaking her hand prior to the meeting as required.


Lion Rick McVaigh won the five-dollar raffle and donated the proceeds to the La Sierra Leo Club.  Lion Pete Sherwood won the free ad. Lion Vicki Whitehouse won the lottery tickets.  President Karen won a shot at the marble drawing but failed to find the coveted white marble.


Tulare Kings Hispanic Chamber Director Gil Jaramillo and President Carlos Mendoza welcomed the Club as the Chamber’s newest member, and described the many privileges of membership.
