Our president, Lion Jamil lead our meeting today, calling on Lion Bob Line to lead us in singing God Bless America. Lion Dee to do the invocation and Lion Hoard to lead us in saluting the flag.
We had a guest today, Carl Anderson who was a guest of Lion Dee.
Announcements
New member night is coming up, Thursday October 9th in Caruthers. The rumor is that the food is fantastic, so if you are a new member in the last year, get together with your sponsor and have a great feast. Oh, and by the way, anyone can go. You don’t need to be a new member.
Remember also, the band review is coming up on Saturday October 25. A sign up sheet will go around at tomorrows meeting. If you can, sign up to help.
Lion Janet announced that the 2015 MD4 state convention will be in Visalia next year. Lion Betty Morris is the chairmen and Janet is Co-Chair. Lion Walt and Lion Roy are on the committee and in charge of putting together the program.
Lion Allen announced that the recent Pixley-Earlemart vision screening tested 69 kids, the next screening will be this Saturday Oct. 4th at Rawhide stadium. Signs up will go around tomorrow.
Lion Sid announced that the Memorial Building, next door to our meeting no longer will allow us to park in their parking lot. So please take note.

Lion Dee was happy for people like his guest, Carl Anderson who serve on the Kaweah Delta Hospital board. Giving of their time and expertise to help the community.
Lion Eric was happy that one of his sons wanted to rent the other sons house..
Lion Roy was happy that the dodgers won the western division and that they did it against the Giants.
Lion Chris was happy that he got to go to a Dodger Game and that the Dodgers won.
Lion George was happy that Carl Anderson was at out meeting today.
Lion Ed had a happy $5 that the Dodgers defeated the “hapless” Giants.
Lion Vickie was happy she slipped up and called our own Lion Dee Baughman, Dee Gordon. (an honest mistake)
Fines
Lion Pat fined Lion Dee for bringing politics into the club by bringing Carl to the meeting.
Lion Justin fined Lion President Jamil for being 30 minutes late to the golf tournament, even when he was on the golf committee he thought that t time was 8:30..
Lion Daryl fined Lion Howard, the King of Cambria because some lady Daryl knew spends 10 days every month in Cambria and didn’t know Howard.
Lion Tom Link find Lion Steve for not singing the song at the start of the meeting.
Lion Dee fined Lion Tom Link, Lion George and Lion Bob Line for slow play when they were on the golf course ahead of Dee’s team. One little issue, Lion Bob Line had the no fine badge.. tha cost Lion Dee a buck.
Lion Jamil fined Lion Eric for having been quoted in not one but two articles in the newspaperpaper.
Lion Tom Link fined Lion Eric for the signal at Court and Tulare blinking red for weeks, and saying that it was Ants eating at the wires and the city of Visalia has been unable to get it fixed.
Lion Allen fined Lion Justin for playing with his phone during the meeting, a fine Justin was happy to pay.
Drawings

Our Program
Our program today was about the Lisa Project. Suzie Skadan with the Visalia Unified School District was the presenter. The Lisa project is a presentation about Child Abuse, and this time around it is being presented in a classroom. You may remember that a few years ago the same Lisa Project was in a trailer, now it has been scaled down a little but still has the same
impact for those who go through it. It takes about ten minutes. It highlights the impact and the ramifications of child abuse. It will be at the rotary Theater through tomorrow, Friday Oct 3rd.

Lion President Carol lead the meeting today, her last meeting as president (she will be gone for the last two meeting this month). She had Lion Dee lead us in singing my country tis of thee. Lion Glen Mar lead us in saluting the flag and began by commemorating the 70th anniversary of D day (June 6, 1945) before leading us in saluting the flag and Lion Lion George lead us in prayer, also mentioning all those who fought in WWII for us.
The no fine badge was won by Lion Tom Link.
Lion President Carol asked Lion Vicki if she had the no fine badge, “not for him I don’t” she replied.
Announcements
This years installation dinner will be at vintage press starting at 6:00 on Friday the 13th. Cost is $25 and you can pay at the door. (Please note that there will not be a regular lunch meeting on that Friday.
June birthdays for the club are Lion Dee Baughman, Lion Glen Marr, Lion Pete Sherwood and Lion Paul Olson. Lion Bob Line lead us in singing happy birthday to all.
Lion President Carol alerted us to an article in the Lions magazine, a club in New England also does eye screening. The story was about the fact that they found cancer in a little girls eye and because of that they very well saved her life.. Thanked lion Allen, if it wasn’t for him we would not be doping the eye screenings.
Band review, got our check for $4285.00. Yeah.. Thanks to lion Tom Gabor,
Buddy Gillespie has resigned from the club because of health issues. A card was sent saying that we miss him but we understand.
Allen announced that the golf tournament committee meeting at BMi on Thursday at 5:30 prices for players will be the same as last year. If you can donate just one raffle gift that would make the tournament a success. .
Lion Melinda said our Host Lions shirts are on order, so if you ordered one pay Melinda when you see her.
Happy Bucks
Lion Dee was happy because he had a fun trip to Oregon with his 3 year old granddaughter. But, his wife got a speeding ticket.
Lion Chris was happy his daughter graduated 8 grade. Most of us knew that this was the first child Chris had going into high school and that happiness would be short lived.
Lion Ruth was happy because it was Friday and that the election over, and she had a happy buck in recognition of her dad who was in Normandy.
Lion Daryl had a sad buck because he had to replace the transmission in his truck, but they had a thousand dollar rebate on it so that made it a little easier to take.
Lion Bob was $20 happy. Tomorrow would have been his 67 wedding anniversary, he was happy that he had the 61 years with his late wife Mary.
Lion Janet was happy she worked at Oak Grove school because her youngest granddaughter goes there, and she had fun having a water balloon fight at the school.
Lion Craig is happy that graduation week is almost over and for Lion Chris because he doesn’t know what he is in for.
Lion George was happy that Lion Craig bought his hat back last week.
Lion Ed is happy that today is the last day of school because he can can, for the next couple of months, get into and out of his neighborhood.
Lion Pete was happy for Tim Ward won the DAs race and last Friday he was at the Giants game at St. Louis.
Lion Sid was happy his niece graduated from high school and got a scholarship to BYU.
Lion Tom Link was happy because he only gave out diplomas at 4 graduations.
Lion President Carol had happy bucks because it’s Friday, election is over, and last day as being president of the club. Plus, she is Going to Chicago with Jeannie.
Lion Howard, happy buck for the great job Lion President Carol did during the last year.
Lion Karen was happy because last weekend Lion Rick (Karen’s husband and our newest member) and her went hiking at Crescent Meadow in Sequoia National Park and saw a bear.
(she was happy the Bear did not follow them back down the trail)
Fines..
Lion John Parker fined Lion Dee for last weekends program. Lion Dee was not at the meeting, even though he told everyone he would be.
Lion Dee fined the table where Lion Tom Link is sitting so that we can get money, with Lion Tom got the no fine badge, the club was not going to see the income that it usually does. Lion Bob Line replied “aren’t we punished enough just sitting at the table with him” .
Lion George fined Lion Ed for last weeks disparaging remark about lion George’s driving.

Cheryl Christman from Imagine U Children’s Museum was our guest speaker today. . They began in 2002 and have been growing ever since. They will begin begin construction on a new facility in a few weeks. With over 14,000 visitors coming through the doors the last year they are in need to a new, larger building. Lion Allen announced that on Thursday things went well with the vision screening at Goshen school, they screened 43 kids with only 6 kids getting recommended to a eye doctor.
The Club directory is ready to be published again this year and it went around the room for members to check out to make sure their info is correct. On Sep.13, we have the opportunity to go to SF for a Giants-Dodger game.. Cost is $125.00 for all.
Lion Dee announces he talked to Lion Pat Harrison. Pat has been recovering from an heart operation. He will have a stent put in this coming Wednesday and that should be the last of the procedures for Pat and we wish him a speedy recovery and hope he is back soon.
Lion Carol had an auction item from Mark Davidson, he won the lotto winner last week and donated it back to the club. Three spots were winners. Lion Ed paid $8 for it.
Lion Steve announced the Save Mart shares card amount for the last quarter and Lion Howard guessed the closest amount, He guest $195.00 and the check was was $194.14.

Lion Dee reminds everyone that the Giants are in first place and were 5 games over the Dodgers.
Lions Craig was happy for the vision screening at Goshen school that. He just happened to be there when the screening was going on.
Lion Eric was happy because his son was appointed by the governor of Arizona to be the head of education innovation.
Lion Daryl was happy because the city is cleaning out the Watson ditch near his home. Plus, now with the new card that the city sent out, he can see how many times a month he can water his dead grass.
Lion John will not be here next week because his son is getting married.
Lion Carol is happy because it’s Friday, and happy to see her co worker Diane Sumpter is here for the program,
Fines
Lion Dee saw someone in a white van going to fast, speeding was the term he used, and that white van was being driven by our won Lion Daryl, who never looked over at Dee, most likely, Dee speculated, because of his excessive speed.
Lion Vickie fined her “friend” Lion Dee for calling the Dodger fans stupid last week.
Lion Roy fined himself for totally forgetting to got to the Goshen Vision Screening that he signed up for last week.
Lion Allen fined Lion Eric because you need to get a permit to fix your own fence in this city.

Today’s Program
Dianne Sumpter was our speaker today from the Visalia parks and recreation dept. talking about the fireworks celebration at the mineral king bowl. They find the program and this will be the last year for them to be able to do it. They are looking for other groups who may want to take that over.

The date for this years officers Installation dinner has been changed to Friday June 13. It will once again be at the Vintage Press this year. Look for your Invitation in the mail.
Lion President Carol announced that the next board meeting will be May 20th at 11:45 at the Clubhouse Deli.
Next Friday, May 9ths luncheon will be at our regular Club House location and will the Melvin Jones award luncheon. Get there early as signs up’s have already been brisk.
Birthdays this month, just one person is Lion Dr. Craig Wheaton. We all sang happy birthday just to him.
Lion Jamil announces that he and Lion Ruth will be hosting a social at his house on May 10. They will be having the tri tip from the Chili Run. Sign up for salads desserts.
Auctions
Lion Chris brought home two small bats that from a recent trip to Dodger Stadium. Both went for $12, one to Lion Roy and one to Lion Ed. Lion Eric, a well know Giants fan bid up one of the bats just to mess with us Dodger Fans.
Rick McVeigh, was given his Lions pin today and is now Lion Rick McVeigh. He is Lion Karen’s husband so the list of husband and wife members is growing. He has been retired for about six weeks.

Lion Chris was happy because last week got to go see the dodgers play, and win. It was his sons 8th birthday.
Lion Tom Link was $5 happy that Hurley school, where his daughter teaches and his wife volunteers, is the only school in Tulare county that got the distinguished school award.
Lion Jamil was happy that we have a new lion member.
Lion Ed was happy because on Sunday he was going on the Happy Hearts motorcycle ride, raising money for Children’s hospital Central California.
Lion Dee was happy that the Giant are in first place,
Lion Eric was happy that he can be called a creep by lion Bob and still feel good about it.
Lion Bob Line was happy because his son in law, Pete, who had picked up two sets of tickets by accident as he came into the club today, put back one set. Bob thought that his good character had rubbed off on Pete after all these years, even with Pete being a lawyer.
Lion Pete was happy because the Oakland As and the Golden State Warriors are doing good.
Lion Carol was happy she is going to Cayucos for the convention, and happy because today is Friday.

Lion Jamil fined Lion Dee because he was delaying the lunch line.
Lion Craig had to fine himself because he was in charge of getting a program for today and forgot. So he got the job of being the program.
