Todays Meeting

Our president, Lion Tom, led the meeting today and called on Lion Leigh to lead us in the flag salute, Lion Pat to lead us in song, and Lion Pete to do the invocation.

The secret greeter today was Lion Allen, and he was quite unpopular; many of us did not shake his hand.

Announcements

Lion Roy gave an update on the Super Bowl Party for the homeless at the Navigation Center.  Jason Crabtree, from the center, said there will be about 40-50 people at the event, and they will be the residents. A brief board meeting at the end of our regular meeting raised another question as to who would pay for the food. More discussion at our next meeting.

Lion Allen announced that the vision screening at Ivanhoe Elementary last Friday evening was a success, screening 47 children.

Our guest speaker, Maranda Chavarria from Quail Park Memory Care, was our speaker today, but I forgot what she discussed. 

Happy Bucks 

Lion Geoff was $4 happy, as he expects the Dodgers to win four games and once again take the World Series Crown. 

Lion Pete was happy that all his grandkids did well in their soccer games. 

Lion Pat was $5 happy: for his nephew was going to Dodger Stadium to watch one of the World Series games, and for Lion Geoff, being a new club member. 

Lion Brad had his credit card hacked recently, so he was happy to hand out some RF Credit Card sleeves from State Farm for any club member who wanted one. 

Lion Melinda was happy to win the English toffee that Lion Leigh had auctioned off, and happy that Lion Geoff was in the club. 

Lion Leigh was happy to have gone to Pismo last week, but was unsure if he was happy to have attended his first-ever baby shower. 

Lion Allen was happy to have Lion Geoff join the club and happy to have him help out at the Vision Screening. 

Lion Roy had a happy buck for the Dodgers, having won the last game of the division series. He was hoping (and still is) to have four happy bucks here soon. 

Lion Dee was also happy to have Lion Geoff in the club, but he did not like all the Dodger clothing Lion Geoff was wearing. 

Lion president Tom was happy for the Dodgers and also happy to have Lion Geoff in the club. 

Fines

Lions Dee fined Lion Geoff because, from his perspective, his Dodger outfit was obscene; several of us in attendance, including your Roar editor, thought it was the height of fashion.  

Lions  Brad and Tom Link were both fined for arriving late to today’s meeting. 

Trivia

No Trivia today because of the swearing-in ceremony of Lion Geoff.  Tomorrow’s trivia will be about the World Series, so brush up on your facts.

Greeter Lion Tony introduced our guest and speaker, Attorney Michae Brown.

The secret greeter today was Lion Karen, and she did a great job as only two of us shook her hand.

Lion Tom also introduced Lion Geoff Breashears, who was voted into the club at our Board Meeting, held just before our regular meeting today.

Lion Melinda announced that we will be planning our 100th anniversary party, set for next summer, and she will chair the committee. She is looking for some of us to step up and help her out by joining the committee.

Auction Items

Lion Tom Link had been at his home in Moro Bay last week and brought back candy from a local shop there. It went to the astounding fee of $10 to Lion President Tom, from one Tom to the other.

Happy Bucks 

Our guest, Michael Brown, was happy to be with us today and happy for what our service club does for the community. He noted that he was a Rotarian, and he was greeted with a rousing song of Out the Window (he must go)

Lion Pete was happy to be back home after being gone for a Month at his second home in North Carolina.

Lion Steve was happy that his son had worked on the Garnett Fire.

Lion Pat was happy to be going to the last football game of the season in Woodlake that evening.

Lion Dee, who took notes for this edition of the Roar (Thanks, Dee), was happy to have two new grandkids in the family.

Lion Tom Link had a good week at Moro Bay, in spite of tornado and flood warnings.

Lion Melinda was happy that Geoff was now a member of our club.

Lion Roy was $3 happy for the three games the Dodgers had against the Brewers (at that time), and he was happy that our newest member, Lion Geoff, was a Dodger fan.

Lion Geoff, as his first happy buck, was $3 happy for the Dodger wins.

Lion Tony was happy the Band Review went well.

Lion president Tom was happy that Lions Tony and Allen were supper program salesmen at the Band Review, selling many more then the other clubs.

For Lion Allen:  Which town came the furthest for the review? He didn’t know it was Marysville.

For Lion Tony: What Club Members were grand marshals? He did have the answer that one of them was Lion Dee. Lion Bob Line was also a grand marshal in 1993, although he did not recall the exact year.

For Lion Pat: How many bands were at this year’s review? He didn’t know that there were 40.

Todays Meeting

Our president, Lion Tom, led the meeting today and called on Lion Pat to lead us in song, Lion Tony to lead the flag salute, and Lion Mark to do the invocation.

Lion Johnathan from the Pride club presented our club with a certificate honoring us for fifty years as members of the Lions Eye Foundation. He noted that he always follows through; however, not always right away, as he has had the certificate for two years. 

We had many guests today, as Lion Marco Martinex, our district (4A2), was visiting.

Lion Rick, who attended our Friday meeting for the first time in many months, won the No Fine badge.

Announcements

Lion Allen announced that there will be a Vision Screening this Friday, October 17th, from 4:30-7:00 at Ivanhoe Elementary School.

Lion Dee announced that Lion Leigh and he had attended a meeting of their Leo Club at LaSierra Academy. He said that they have been very active in projects this year, participating in clean-up efforts at Grover Beach and Happy Trails Riding Academy, among the many activities. It’s an exciting year with thirty kids in the program.

Lion Brad was happy to be going on vacation to Wichita, Kansas, to see one of his kids.

Lion Roy was $5 happy, $1 for every game the Dodgers had won in the Postseason. He was also happy for Lion Allen that the Yankees’ postseason had been ended by the Blue Jays. 

Lion Allen was happy to see the District Governor and all the guests here today.

Lion Melinda was also happy to see all the guests with us today.

Lion Karen was happy to see that her son-in-law was with us today and may become a member.
