Happy Bucks

Lion Justin Levy was happy to be back at Club and donated ten happy bucks.  He traveled to Costa Rica last May and was also happy  that in-person school has begun.

Giants fan Dee Baughman was happy his team is still in first place atop the National League’s Western Division.

President Aaron has been traveling to Cambria and Avila.

Lion Vicki Whitehouse donated five happy bucks and shared that her husband and son were on their way to a Dodgers game.

Lion Craig Wheaton had a good hike and was happy to see the Dodgers in second place.

Bob Bricker was fined after his housekeepers phone kept ringing during the meeting.

Nicole Burnham of the Tulare County District Attorneys Office described their efforts to combat scams, identity theft and elder abuse.

Announcements  

Tom Gaebe announced that the Lions Band Review and Field Show is scheduled for October 16th.

President Aaron Odell passed around a member activity form that can be used to track creditable volunteer activities performed by members.  Volunteers are also needed for the Club’s Golf Tournament Committee.

Happy Bucks

Lion George Fry donated twenty happy bucks in honor of his last Club meeting.  He will be moving to Pacific Grove.

Lions Craig Wheaton, Dee Baughman, Steve Gerrard, Betty Odell, and  Tony Loliva were happy to see Lions Vicki Whitehouse, and George Fry back at Club.  San Francisco fans Craig and Dee were also happy that the Giants had the best record in Major League Baseball.

After donating several happy bucks, Lion Vicki donate $100 to Happy Trails Riding Academy. 

Brad Board donated ten happy bucks.  His daughter has become the piano accompanist for the Tulare County Symphony and the Choir Director for the Presbyterian Church.

Lion Pat Harrison donated twenty happy bucks.  He recently fell but didn’t break, and he complete his service on jury duty.

Lion Roy Dressel will be taking a two week trip up the Coast.

Pete Sherwood noted that Lion Brad had been losing weight.

Leslie Gardner provided an update on activities at Happy Trails Therapeutic Riding Center.  Their programs include Therapeutic Riding, Equine Assisted Activities, Equine Assisted Psychotherapy, andVeteran Services.

Lion Roy Dressel was happy that Lion Rick McVaigh was back at club and helping with the ROAR newsletter.  Because he commutes from Fresno, Roy was also happy to see a number of road work projects nearing completion.

Dodgers fan John Parker was happy to see ace pitcher Max Sherzer joining the team.

Lions Dee Baughman and Pete Sherwood were happy about the Giants two wins over the Dodgers.

Tom Link enjoyed a baseball game and a Van Gogh exhibit during his recent trip to the Bay Area and donated ten happy dollars.

 A master gardener from Tulare and Kings County Master Gardeners provided tips on water savings and low-water landscaping.

Club President Aaron Odell opened the meeting by asking Lion Brad Board to lead his fellow Lions in the flag salute.  Lion Tom link led the group in song, a rousing rendition of God Bless America, and Lion Pete Sherwood performed the invocation.

President Aaron shared that the Club’s charity golf tournament has been postponed until May 13th, 2022.

Auction Items

Lion Brent Robinson auctioned off one bag of “goofy” taffy and one bag of caramel corn from his recent trip to Disney World.  Lion Pat Harrison bought both for a donation of $25.   Lion Tom link offered up some domestic caramel corn from Morro Bay, which Lion Karen McVaigh purchased.

Lion Vicki Whitehouse was very happy to be back at Club and donated 100 happy bucks!!!

Dee Baughman was happy that a recent operation was a success, and that the Giants had beaten the Dodgers.  He was also glad to see Lion Vicki back at Club.

Pete Sherwood was also pleased with the Giants success.  He received a ride to the meeting from good Samaritan Brad Board.

Brent Robinson was happy to be back from Florida and was looking forward to a weekend away with his wife.

Tom Link will be travelling to Oakland next week.  The trip will include a ferry ride across the Bay to a Giants baseball game.

Angela Wakley, who manages the Visalia Farmers Market, described how they provide healthy foods directly from local growers at the Valleys largest farmer-based market.

Lion Craig gave $5.00 because he did not bring back anything from his rafting trip on the Colorado River to auction off.

Happy Bucks

Lion Pete was happy that the family had a good trip to Oregon, he brought back lots of memories but no auction items do he gave $20, plus he was happy to have Tim and Stewart here today.

Lion Karen was $5 happy because the day before she got a phone call letting her know she will be expecting her first granddaughter.

Lion Brad had a happy $10 because he was able to be back on a regular basis for our meetings now that he has a full office staff. Plus was happy about a trip last week to see family.

Lion Craig was happy because of a great rafting trip, happy that he made it out, that he now has a regular shower and a toilet, and happy that he is recovering from a mountain bike crash.

Lion Karen also had a happy buck for our guest/program today.

Our program: Tulare county district Attorney Tom Ward gave us the low down on the Golden State Killer. He began his spree here in Visalia and became known as the Visalia Ransacker. The death of COS professor Claude Snelling, who was the first person DeAngelo killed, was solved by the use of family DNA.
