Visalia Host Lions meeting for 6-12-26

Todays Meeting

First Vice President Lion Colin was our fearless leader today and called on Lion Roy to lead us in the flag salute, Lion Pat to lead us in singing the Star-Spangled Banner, and Lion Pete to do the invocation.

Guests today, as announced by Lion Tony, were Nicola Wissler from the Workforce Investment Board and Lion Jeff’s wife, Jill.

The secret greeter was announced as Lion Melinda, and several people did not shake her hand, including Lion Steve, Lion Dee, Lion Tom, Lion Roy, and maybe a couple of others that we did not get.

Lion Pat was $10 happy that someone (sorry, couldn’t read that ) was the top teacher at Redwood.

Lion Amy was happy because of the leftover cases from one of our golf tournaments, which she put to good use by handing them out to a group on a recent field trip.

Lion Pete was happy to have been one of the runners-up for the Chamber’s Small Business of the Year and enjoyed the evening the night before.

Lion Bob was also happy for Lion Pete, mainly because Lion Pete treated everyone to a meal after the event.

Fines

Lion Collin fined Lion Allen for refusing to do the pledge today.

All lions who did not ask Lion Amy to sit with them were fined. She was sitting by herself at a small table next to the wall

. Lion Melinda was fined because, when talking to Lion Tom at the baseball game the night before, she was so loud that many others could not hear the game.

Lion Dee fined Lion Tny because he refused to believe the Rawhide would play the Grizzlies on the night of our Lions Club event. Lion Tony finally decided that the schedule was correct the morning after the game.

Lion Dee fined Roar Editor Lion Roy because he omitted Dee’s birthday in the previous newsletter’s edition.

Todays Meeting

Lion President Tom, counting down the weeks before he becomes ex-President Tom, asked Lion Steve to lead us in the pledge, Lion Mark to do the invocation, and Lion Pat to lead us in singing the song.
Guests today were Kevin McCusker from Cal Water. He was also our speaker.

We did draw for the No Fine Badge, and it went to Lion Leigh.

The secret greeter today was Lion Tom Link.  Several people did not want to shake his hand, and that made the club a little more profitable.

Announcements

Lion Melinda announced that a building the Lions Club had owned for many years had been sold, and that the proceeds would go to several places, including the Leo clubs.

Lion Dee announced that Lions Night at the Rawhide would be on Thursday, June 11th, and that money was due today, the last day that you could pay.

Lion Tom Link said we had given money to the Houston Elementary School for good-attendance gifts. We have been doing that for many years.

Lion Allen announced two vision screenings, both on August 7th.

June birthdays

The only June birthday in attendance was Lion Pete, and we sang happy birthday to him.

Auction items

Lion Tony Loliva auctioned off moonshine found in our storage locker, which was from the murder mystery dinner. It went to Lion Pat for $20.

Lion Mark was happy for Pete and his award, and he was happy that he was able to order to pay for Bob’s breakfast.

Lion Melinda was happy to have helped Lion Roy at the swim team photo shoot in Exeter on Wednesday. She nearly killed herself from the heat, but she did survive and had a good time.

Lion Roy had a happy buck for Pete, and thanks to Melinda for her help with the swim team.

Lion Pat was also happy for Pete’s award because Pete is his lawyer.

Lion President Tom was happy for our guest today and was happy for the fish in Hume Lake because once again, he had gone fishing and caught nothing.
