Our meeting today

Lion Tony lead our meeting today as Lion President Aaron was ill. He called on Lion Brent to lead us in the flag salute, Lion Dee to lead us in singing God Bless America, and Lion Pete to do the invocation.

Announcements

Annual golf tournament May 13th at Plaza Park. The first committee meeting was held on Wednesday. The meeting consisted of Betty, Brent, and Roy. One decision that was made was to have the event catered by the golf club this year (Tacos)  instead of doing the food ourselves. It was determined that doing the food took a lot of work for not a lot of savings. We also sent around a signup sheet to start getting volunteers. If anyone would like to volunteer please text or call Betty at 510-909-3598 We still have many slots that need to be filled that day.

Our main need right now is to get sponsors. We will have a sheet detailing the sponsorships that are available so that members can take them to prospects soon.

The next golf committee meeting will be Wednesday, Feb 9th at 5:30 at Lion Roy’s studio on Main St. (115 W. Main) Want to be on the golf committee? Text Roy at 559-289-2382 and let him know.

Guests

Our guest today was our program, Ashley Martinez from COS veterans affairs.

Auction Items

Lion Karen auctioned off a small box of cookies from her trip to Hawaii, which was purchased by Lion Roy for $8.

Lion Tom Link auctioned off a pair of tickets to last Saturday night’s fundraiser for the Rotary theater and they were purchased by Lion Pat for $100. Pat then tried to find one of us who could or wanted to go, everybody was either already going or was not able to go.

Happy Bucks

Lion Pete was happy we had a good crowd at the meeting today.

Lion Dee was happy to be at the meeting today. He had been down with a bad cold for a couple of weeks.

Lion Vicki was happy that her friend, Lion Tony had brought her a bag of hand warmers. She had told him that her hands were always cold and that was confirmed by those of us who had shaken her hand today. As she told the story, Lion Tom Link wondered out loud what she was talking about.

Lion Craig was happy that he had been skiing at China Peak 5 of the last 8 days.

Lion Steve was happy that Lion Karen was still doing her job as treasurer while having her new baby granddaughter with her.

Lion Bob Line was happy that he had two birdies and two pars on the golf course this morning. Lion Dee asked if he had any witnesses or was he playing by himself? Lion Tom Link confirmed that he had been playing with Bob and that his boast was correct.

Lion Roy was happy that he had photographed dads and their daughters at the annual Vintage Press daughters day the past Monday.

Fines

Lion Craig fined Lion Tom Link for calling him last week while he was on ski patrol duty at China Peak. He could have been needed in saving someone s life.

Lion Dee fined Lion Bob Line for changing the pitch of today’s song. Dee had been asked to lead but Bob had decided to take over.

Lion Brent fined Lion Allen for talking while Brent was trying to lead the salute of the flag today.

Lion Pete drew a marble and tries to figure out, is this thing white? Nope..
