President Ruth McKee opened the October 11th meeting with a patriotic song led by Lion Dee Baughman. John Parker performed the invocation and Steve Gerrard led the flag salute. Lions also sang the Happy Birthday Song for members born in October. 

Kaweah Delta Director of Special Clinics John Leal and two associates were guests at the meeting.

Lion Brad Board won the no-fine badge. 

Announcements

Band Review Coordinator Tom Gaebe reminded members that the Annual Band Review and Field Show is coming up on October 12th. 

Lion Allen Ventling shared that vision testing was performed on over 30 kids at a Family Health Care Network health fair in Ivanhoe. Lions Rick McVaigh, Betty Odell, Aaron Odell and Roy Dressel also participated.

Secretary Steve Gerrard announced that there will be a Lions 4A2 training event on November 2nd at St. Paul’s Church.  The training will cover vision screening and member recruitment and retention.

The 2020 Wild, Wild West Murder Mystery Dinner will be on March 7th.

Auction

Lion Brad Board auctioned off a jar of apple butter from his recent trip to Washington State.  Lion Aaron Odell purchased the butter for a donation of ten dollars.

Happy Bucks

Lion Dee Baughman collected on his challenge to Dodgers fans. Dodgers fans contributed a buck apiece when the Team, once again, failed to win the World Series.

Lion John Parker was happy to be back at Club.

Lion George Fry’s granddaughter will be visiting him next month.

Lion Brad Board got in his first snowball fight of the season in Washington.

Cardinals fan Aaron Odell was happy to see his team advancing in the MLB playoffs.

Lion Allen Ventling picked up a few dollars at the Fresno Fair Horse Races.

Lion Vicki Whitehouse shared that her husband is doing well and playing golf.

Dodgers fan Vicki Whitehouse fined herself after sitting through a painful playoff loss.

Lion Dee Baughman fined Lion Allen Ventling for allegedly cutting ahead in the lunch line.

President Ruth fined Lion Pat Harrison for a joke about her stature.

Prizes

Vicki Whitehouse won the five-dollar raffle and donated the proceeds to the La Sierra Leo Club.  Rick McVaigh won the free ad. Lion John Parker won the Lotto tickets. President Ruth won a shot at the marble drawing but failed to find the elusive white marble.

John Leal described Kaweah Delta Hospital’s new Neurosurgery Center.  Kaweah Delta has partnered with Center Neurorestoration Associates to provide local neurosurgery services 24 hours a day, 7 days a week.
