 The Club received a Thank You letter from CSET for our donations in January of 2020, which allowed them to make crucial improvements to their Meals on Wheels Program.

 Program

Our program was presented by Nicola Wissler.  Some of you may know her from the Workforce Investment Board but today she was sharing a new community resources sponsored by her church, Just Serve.  This is a way for us to find, advertise, or volunteer for community service projects.  It is local and national and we, as in the Lions Club, can list our service projects and perhaps attract individuals that may be willing to help out.  I think it could be a way to recruit service oriented people as members.  We will talk more about it at our next board meeting.

Lions John Parker and Steve Gerrard were happy about the Los Angeles Dodgers winning the World Series.
Lions Tom Link and Tony Loliva were happy for Fresno State’s big win.
President Craig was happy to have his internet restored in the mountains.
Lions Betty & Aaron Odell were happy for being back in town and visiting grandchildren
Lion Allen Ventling was happy for something 🙂
Lion Brent Robinson was happy that his children might be able to return to school, in person, in December.

In Memory of Lion Don Landers 

All, as you know, we lost Lion Don Landers this week.   Our thoughts and prayers are with his family.  At our meeting in addition to all of our other business, we began with a tribute to Lion Don.   
Lion Don Landers joined Visalia Host Lions on September 8, 1990 and was club president in 1995-96.   We will have a short memory on our Facebook page thanks to Lion Laurie.   Don was very active in the community and served on Visalia City Council for fourteen years. 
We will miss him.

 

Program

We had a wonderful Visalia Host Lions’ program this last Friday, October 16, 2020.   Our program guests were Albert Cendajas and Rachel Gomez from CSET.  They described CSET’s Senior and Homeless Services.  Last year our club donated to this program and they were able to wrap their vans and we have our club logo on their Vans.

Happy Bucks and Fines

Everyone who attended was happy to have known Don Landers and all donated $5 in his memory.  

Brent, Roy, and Craig were all fined, all self inflicted for various reasons.

Friday’s Meeting – September 25, 2020 Held on Zoom
Friday’s Zoom meeting was attending by more than a dozen Lions and guest.  A good time was had by all and it was very informative.  
Program
Kaweah Delta provided our program with Deborah Volosin, Director of Community Engagement, introducing the Chief Nursing officer, Keri Noeske.  Keri gave us a detailed overview of the hospital’s response to COVID and answered several questions regarding the spread of COVID in Tulare County.  It was interesting and informative.  We hope to have Keri join us again in a couple of months for another update.

Lion Roy Dressel was $10 happy that he was not injured during his fire experience at his studio.   Smoke came up from down stairs and he was rescued by our brave fireman!  Not an experience one wants to have but it all turned out well.
Lion Steve Gerrard was $5 happy that his granddaughter was coming home
Lion Brent Robinson was $5 happy because it was Friday (I guess this was in honor of Happy Friday Ruth)
Lion Brad Board $5 happy he has no claims, so far, from the local fires
Lion Bob Bricker $5 happy that he is now a great grandpa!   or was it great great?   
I am sure there were others who were happy 
There were also a few fines to go around.
